About this project
Mobile Trends is a scene about endless scrolling: a feed of short videos slides out of a smartphone on a table, bends and spills down, while new clips keep scrolling on the screen. A perfect visual for app ads and content about social media, trends and mobile marketing.
The real value of the project is a technique that is rarely explained: how to trim the feed at the top and bottom with no masks or booleans, only a Vertex Map, fields and a vertex attribute inside the material. Take the scene apart, drop in your own videos, and you have a ready clip for commercial 3D animation or an app promo.
Seamless Loop Animation: A 380-frame loop: the feed and the clips on the screen move continuously, and the end meets the start perfectly.Feed Built with Cloner & Spline Wrap: The slide planes are cloned with a MoGraph Cloner and bent along a spline with Spline Wrap, while a slider rig with a Linear Field moves the whole feed — the path is easy to reshape.Trimming with Vertex Map & Fields: A Vertex Map tag with two Linear Fields (Min blending) defines the visible area, and a Vertex Attribute node in the Redshift material hides the feed at the top and bottom — no masks or booleans.Easy-to-Swap Video Slides: Every slide is its own material with a video texture: drop in your own clips, app screenshots or product shots, and the feed updates automatically.Redshift Materials & Lighting: A detailed smartphone model, glossy plastic, copper and soft studio light from four Area Lights against a warm orange backdrop — the scene is ready to render.
