Fidget cube
Fidget cube — Detailed 3D Loop for Cinema 4D
About this project
Fidget cube is the most detailed scene in the shop: a slowly turning cube that shows its faces one by one, each inspired by a familiar gadget — a gamepad, a computer keyboard, a car or camera control panel. Hundreds of small buttons, switches and bevels come together in one tidy model.
A project like this is a ready guide to hard-surface modelling and to handling many materials: open the scene to see how the buttons are built, how the hierarchy is organised and how the lighting is set up for glossy and metal surfaces. Individual parts carry easily into commercial 3D animation, from product videos to intros.
What you can do with this project:
Open the project to take apart a professionally organised large scene: how dozens of parts are grouped by face, how the null rig with Signal Plus creates endless rotation and how the lighting is tuned for different surface types. Product 3D videos in this style are in my portfolio.
Use the model whole or in parts: swap the faces for your own gadgets or a brand logo, change the material palette, the rotation speed and the camera, and you have a striking loop for a promo, social media or an intro.
